Chesham Wedding Photographer

Why is 'Chesham Wedding Photographer' my top wedding search term?

Whenever I look at my stats Chesham wedding photographer is always there. Each day there is always a search for ‘Chesham Wedding Photographer’ or ‘Chesham Wedding Photography’. This leaves me to think that either there are a lot of people in Chesham who are thinking of getting married, or there is a wedding photographer in Chesham who searches for themselves on Google daily.

Whatever the reason it has given me the inspiration to write an article about it. Oh and if it is the later and the photographer is reading this you may want to try Google Analytics, it’s a lot easier and quicker than searching every day.

The high price of wedding photography

When people think of wedding photography the subject of the cost always comes up. Why is wedding photography so expensive and is it possible to do it on a budget?

What is a normal price?

The first thing to consider is what is a ‘normal’ price for a wedding photographer? According to www.yourperfectweddingphotographer.co.uk the average cost of a wedding photographer is £1,560. They do say though this this does depend on the location, service required and the experience of the photographer.

Quality counts

Regardless of your budget always check out the quality. It is all too easy to get your mind set on trying to find a cheap wedding photographer that you forget to look at the quality of their work. Pricing structures may vary and some costs may not be immediately visible, however, all good wedding photographers will give examples of their work.

Don’t forget though for some of the ‘cheap photographers’ it may be that they are just starting out. This is not always a bad thing, but do have a look at the other work that they do.

Photography isn’t just a days work

So many times people have seen my prices and questioned the amount that I charge. Far too many people only think a photographer is just there for the few hours that they are taking photographs and that is the job done. This really isn’t the case. Even before your wedding there will be the emails and phone calls to answer along with other administration duties. Then after the wedding (or any other photography session) there is the editing. With some photographs taking up to 30 minutes to edit you can imagine the amount of time a wedding photographer takes when they have hundreds of photographs in front of them.

Is wedding photography on a budget possible?

The simple answer to this one is, yes. It is possible to have a budget wedding photographer. You just need to be a little bit more flexible in what you need.

Ask yourself these simple questions:

Do I need the wedding photographer for the full day?

It is possible to reduce the cost of your wedding photographer by only having them for the service or other key parts of the day. There will of course be a lot of guest about with a camera handy for the other parts. One little trick is to put disposable cameras on the tables for people to use (some of the results from that can be hilarious).

Do I need a photographer with experience?

This is a bit of a tricky one. Experience is an important factor and an experienced photographer will have valuable information on where to be at the right time. It could also be though that if a photographer has experience in other areas they will also be able to bring that to the table.

Do I need a wedding photographer?

Now that sounds a bit odd. I don’t mean don’t have a wedding photographer. Have a think about the style of photography that you are looking for. Do you want the set poses, etc or are you looking for a more documentary or lifestyle approach? It could be possible that if you approach a photographer who does this style of photography, but who is not branded as a wedding photographer, they may be interested.

What do I offer?

I will admit that I possibly come under the answer to the last question above. I don’t market myself as a wedding photographer, however, I have done them in the past. The first wedding I did came as a result of the question above. The couple didn’t want a traditional wedding photographer, but someone who would be able to capture the emotion of the day.

If you would like to know more about what I offer please take a look at my Wedding Photography Page, or if you have any questions you can always Contact Me
