The experience begins now
The experience of your family photography session should not just been when the photographs are being taken or when you view your gallery. Each family is individual and I want you to be a part of the process of creating a family photography session that is unique to your family.
My aim with all my family photography sessions is to provide photographs that display the family behind the photograph. The photographs should be relaxed and natural, not with forced ‘say cheese’ smiles. To help put you at ease we will only work with situations that you are comfortable with. I will also encourage you to involve the passions of your family, a family pet or hobbies that you all share.
To help you to feel involved below is a general overview of how your family photography experience will unfold.
1. Booking your session
Booking your session is easy, simply complete the Contact Me form on the website and we will provisionally get you booked in for your preferred date.
To complete your booking all you need to do is complete the following:
– Return the session questionnaire
– Sign the contract
– Pay the session fee
2. The mood board
After I have received your questionnaire I will use the information to begin planning your session.
Part of this process involves creating a mood board and is one that I would encourage you to be a part of.
Mood boards are a great way to show what you are looking for from your family photography session. It’s a visual way of displaying ideas of the type and style of images that you are looking for.
I will provide some ideas for you although I would urge you to have look online (Pinterest is a great resource for this) for ideas that you would like included.
This is an exciting part of the creation process and will help you to feel not only more involved but will also build excitement before your family photography session rather than nervous. This process will also mean that you know what you will be doing so won’t spend your session thinking where to put your arms.
3. Pre-session consultation
A few days before your session I will contact you (either by phone or email) to confirm all of the details of your session:
Although you are free to contact me at any stage this is a great opportunity to cover any last minute questions that you may have.
4. Your photography session
The session will be casual and relaxed working at a pace that you are happy with. Working with the mood board that we will have created together you will know what to expect and the images that we will be aiming to capture.
I understand that inspiration can come at any time so if you feel that you would like to try something that we haven’t already discussed we will try to involve that as well. Likewise I may spot some opportunities during your session which are worth capturing.
If the session is in your home I would remind you that if there are thing around that you don’t want in the photographs it is a good idea to hide them away before the session begins. This will not only save time during your session but will also avoid them being accidentally captured in any of the images.
After your session it is time for you to relax while I get started reviewing and editing your photographs.
As I will take a lot of photographs the first part of this process is to take out the ones where the focus or lighting isn’t right, people look uncomfortable and yes those ones that always happen where someone is blinking.
After this stage comes the editing. I don’t use a set filter but instead individually edit each photograph depending on the emotion or fell that it is displaying.
6. Your gallery and ordering
Usually within two weeks of your family photography session I will send you a link to your personal online gallery.
This is your opportunity to view the images that you helped to create.
To make ordering as comfortable as possible this can all be done directly from your gallery and you are able to view the packages available to you.
Many of my clients prefer to purchase digital copies of their images and these are delivered directly to you via email within minutes of you placing the order. To avoid any delay with prints these orders are sent straight to my print suppliers who will post your photographs directly to you once they are ready.
You may also decide that you would like some of the images displayed in other ways. As I work with a variety of suppliers I am always happy to discuss options with you and find a solution within your budget.
